Violin Tuner Intelli IMT-600

The Intelli IMT-600 violin tuner is an upgrade to the previous model, IMT-500 and can be used for violins or guitars and also set as a chromatic tuner.  How it works is you attach the tuner to your instrument with the clip and then it reads the vibrations as you strum or pick or pluck, pizzicato. The display is LCD, but reads like an old analog style with the needle teetering back and forth. The screen is backlit so it makes it easy to read in low light conditions or even in the dark while you are backstage about to make your entrance! Have you ever tried to use a tuner when there is a lot of background noises in your immediate area? It makes it pretty tough to tune because the tuner is constantly wavering around because it is picking up all the other sounds, not just your violin or guitar. Well this violin tuner IMT-600 can be used in places where there are lots of noises, like on stage, and will filter out everything except your instrument - nice. This tuner is compact, easy to use and very reasonably priced.

Product Description

The Intelli IMT-600 Auto Violin Tuner is an upgrade to the IMT-500 tuner. You can switch between three modes which include Violin, Chromatic and Guitar. You attach this tuner with a clip directly to your violin or guitar which then will pick up the instrument vibrations. This violin tuner will filter out extraneous noises so it can be used in places that are noisy, unlike lots of other tuners, especially concert halls. The meter is LCD, but looks like an analog meter, so it is easy to read. The LCD display is also backlit which makes it easy to view in dark locations. Technical: Calibrate from A = 430 to 449Hz with 1Hz step. Quadra flat tuning - no need to remove a capo to tune your guitar. Tuning range: 12-note full range chromatic, A2-B7. Tolerance: +/ 0.5 cents, uses Quartz Crystal. Clearly shows how sharp or flat you are in cents. Overall Dimensions: 45x45x55.8mm, (body only 45x45x14mm). Weight: Approx. 50g (including battery). Calibration can be done in single hertz steps, automatic power-off feature up to three minutes with no signal, easy replaceable coin battery, 3volt (CR2032) (included).

The only negatives I have seen is that some have said that the tuner may not be accurate enough for instruments that have paired strings such as mandolins and hammered dulcimers. You may want to try to get a more specialized tuner for those instruments. Some violinists have had a little trouble finding a good location on the violin to attach the tuner to. Most have found that putting it on the top of the scroll works fine with slight difficulty tuning the pegs. Others, like in the video demonstration below, just attach it directly to the E peg.  But one reviewer mentioned not to attach the tuner to the back of the violin neck because it may scratch it without being careful. A guitarist also said not to leave it on your instrument because he did with his and the rubber pad left a stain on the polished finish of the wood. If you have any questions or recommendations for a violin tuner, please ask or tell below! You may also want to take a look at the Korg Chromatic Tuner listed under violin tuners here at our site.
